What is the Prometheus Programme?

The Prometheus Programme on Transition Studies is an English-language programme offered at the University of Tartu, Estonia. The programme focuses on transition experiences and current developments in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia, combining the perspectives of Political Science, Economics and Legal Studies. The program is offered every year: autumn (September-January) semester and spring semester (February-June).Â

The programme offers a unique opportunity to explore transition issues in a country that has historically served as a gateway between the East and the West and has recently experienced a transition "miracle". In order to create a truly memorable transition experience, the programme combines coursework with study trips, other educational activities and social events. The programme features courses on transition in Eastern Europe and Russia:
